Researchers from Stanford University have developed an exoskeleton with sensors and artificial intelligence algorithms designed to improve its characteristics. Technology Review writes about this.
The robotic device resembles a boot. It was equipped with inexpensive wearable sensors, a Raspberry Pi single -paying computer operating from the battery.
The data generated by the boot is analyzed by the machine learning model. She sets up the device and moves the ankle, replacing some functions of the calf muscle. Thanks to this, the leg pushes away from the ground and takes a step, allowing the owner to walk faster with less effort.
According to the developers, AI-model is personalized in just one hour. During operation, the algorithm reaches out, adapting to a change in user behavior.
During the testing, the developers found that the use of the device increases the speed of 9% and reduces energy consumption by 17% compared to natural movement in ordinary shoes.
