The Court of Appeal canceled the decision of the Saratov District Court, on the basis of which the main website of The Tor Project was blocked. It is reported by RoskomSvoboda.
According to FORKLOG lawyer Ekaterina Abashina, procedural violations were the basis for the abolition. In particular, the court of first instance did not attract the organization of The Tor Project Inc to participate in the case.

In a conversation with FORKLOG, the lawyer of RoskomSvoboda indicated that the prosecutor asks to limit access to the site due to the “information through which users get access to download the browser-anonymizer program”.
“We insist that such information is neither directly nor indirectly by the legislation of the Russian Federation is not prohibited or limited in distribution, neither administrative nor criminal liability for the distribution of such information has been established, therefore, there is no legal basis for restriction,” said Abashin.
The meeting in the case of The Tor Project is scheduled for May 26.
Recall that in December last year, experts recorded blocking access to the Tor network in the Russian Federation.
TOR manager TOR TOR Project Inc. announced the receipt of a letter from Roskomnadzor with a threat of access restriction due to information banned in the territory of the Russian Federation. The formal basis was the decision of the Saratov District Court of 2017.
