“This morning, Tether demanded a ransom to avoid mass DDOS attacks. Once they already tried to do it. Usually we have about 2000 requests in 5 minutes. The attack brought the indicator to 8 million requests of 5 minutes, ”wrote Ardoino.

According to the CTO of the company, Tether took measures to smooth out the consequences of the attack, and the attackers “loosened” the pressure on the system. He also emphasized that the incident will not affect the possibility of repaying positions in USDT.

Since the beginning of May, USDT has decreased by 18%. The capitalization of its closest competitor – USD Coin (USDC) from the Center consortium – for the same period, on the contrary, increased by 12%.
