Unknown people put up a database with electronic addresses of 3.1 million users of the analytical service CoinmarketCap. Records do not contain passwords, reports the Have I Been Pwned portal.

According to the portal, the alleged hacking occurred on October 12. Coinmarketcap confirmed that the merged addresses “correlate with the database of subscribers” of the service. The company conducted a “comprehensive test of servers”, but “did not find any traces of safety violations”. Experts believe that the data is obtained from Tiffany releases third -party platforms.

“Since there are no passwords in the records that we have viewed, we believe that the data is most likely obtained from another platform, where users could re -use passwords on several sites. We believe that the attacker (or attackers) compared the list of addresses with other data leaks. Thus, the list of addresses of CoinmarketCap users looks real – this is a “cleaned” set of email data from Darknet, which was found in previous drains not related to the service, ”the company’s blog says.
In 2020, the cryptocurrency exchange Binance acquired Coinmarketcap. The transaction value was not disclosed. According to the media, the amount was close to $ 300 million.
