The story of Teia.Art: Marketplais saved by community

Result: Hen changed the name to TEIA.Art, became an example of the benefits of decentralization, organized DAO without tokens and probably collected the most active community in Tezos. We tell the story of the transformation of Teia.Art.

Brief History Hic et Nunk

Markeptilais Hicetnunk.XYZ created one developer – Rafael Lima. He deleted it in November 2021. However, all NFT remained in the register of a smart contract, and artifacts attached to them-in the decentralized file system IPFS. Only front -end, interface for interacting with a contract and IPFS disappeared.

The creator of Teztools under the nickname Manitcor, which helped Lima support Hicetnunk.XYZ, made a mirror of the marketplace on the HICETNUNC domain.Art. In parallel, the community launched three more mirrors and came to the idea of ​​creating a DAO to manage a risen project.

Manitcor supported the idea of ​​decentralization. According to him, with the help of Hic et NUNC, Rafael Lima experimented with a creative economy and challenged traditional decentralized finance. But only the community of artists, collectors and enthusiasts will determine whether the new HIC ET NUNC incarnation will follow this principle further and whether it will be able to survive the blow.

Launching proto-dao and renaming Hen into Teia

Developers, strategists and managers have connected to Discord hic et nunc. They organized the development of DAO and multisig-wallet for voting and making decisions, creating a new smart contract for the marketplace and recruiting volunteers to combat copywriters.

Not everything was smooth: from the old hic et nunc remained HDAO management tokens. In the first months of the marketplace, they were received for free of them by participants in transactions with NFT. In December 2021, the community began to discuss whether it is worth using HDAO in self -government and for the remuneration of participants, or to release new tokens.

On the example of the War of the United States Independence, the procedures for obtaining citizenship and the organization of Huawei, the user under the nickname Jackyang explained that the tokens will not make the whale a full -fledged member of the community, but are suitable as a reward of active participants.

While there were discussions about the future of HDAO, the developers launched a vote for the new name of the marketplace. To participate, only an address was needed that previously interacted with HIC ET NUNC, and a little TEZ to pay for transaction commissions.

The names Synq and Teia reached the final, and at the next vote, Teia won with a margin of 5 votes.

February 1, the developers launched the TEIA website.Art and channel for choosing a new logo. The discussion ended that the developers added a tool for loading logo-packs, and the logo changes every time when the page is rebooted.

Although voting without tokens and discussions in Discord are not similar to classic DAOs with tokens and the achievement of superbolstony, the TEIA community fulfilled – began to make decisions and improve marketplaces.

TEIA development plans

The community discusses the shortcomings of the marketplace and ways to solve them in Discord and Discourse. Discourse usually takes out the results of discussions of important topics like testing the same DAO with tokens, the introduction of a new universal TezTOK index and registration of TEIA as a legal entity for the distribution of commissions and paying taxes. One of the main discussions is the launch of the new Ministry of Contract. Teia is still working at the old Hicetnunk Objkt contract to create NFT. In fact, an independent marketplace project remains simply an alternative front -end.

The launch of a new contract will mean the launch of an independent ecosystem, not tied to the old code of Hic et nunc. In addition, developers will be able to update the contract: add new features to NFT, improve the security of the contract and the standard of tokens, release their own “Teia Genesis” toxies. There is a drawback: a new contract will lose compatibility with indexes and old tools for working with NFT, respectively, they will have to be finalized.
