The State Duma in the first reading rejected the bill on cryptocurrency mining in the Russian Federation, proposed by deputies from the New People party.
Earlier, the State Duma Committee on the Financial Market opposed the initiative. According to his conclusion, the document provides for the use of digital assets as a means of payment in the Russian Federation, which contradicts the constitution.
The committee noted that the bill does not describe the mechanism of mining taxation, supervision of this type of activity and the requirements for the Data Center Operator. The authors were also criticized for the lack of a systematic approach to regulation.
