Microbt introduced the Bitcoin Mainers of the new Whatsminer M50 series
Microbt introduced a line of ASIC Mainers of the Bitcoin series of the Whatsminer M50 series at the Bitcoin 2022 conference in Miami. This was reported by FORKLOG representatives of the project.
Devices M50S, M50 and M53 are equipped with 5-nm chips from Samsung Corporation. According to the statement, their effectiveness is 15% higher than that of the miners of the former M30 series, which the company launched in 2020.
The supply of new models will begin in the third quarter of 2022 30,000 units monthly. Miners are available for order.
The flagship Whatsminer M50S with air cooling provides a hashrate 126 Th/S with an energy efficiency of 26 J/Th (power consumption – 3276 W).
The declared indicators of the Whatsminer M50 – 114 Airdrop Phishing Th/S and 29 J/Th, respectively.
The M53 model has liquid cooling. Heshchrate Bitcoin Mainer is 240 Th/S when consuming 29 J/TH.
In September 2020, the industry journalist Colin Wu announced the issue of the Microbt line of the M50 line over the next months. According to him, the company intended to use the Samsung chips in the 8-nm miners, but to achieve energy efficiency of about 30 j/th, surpassing the devices from Bitmain.
At that time, the market leader used TSCM 7-nm technology processors. In November 2021 alone, Bitmain first demonstrated a model based on 5-nm chips-Antminer S19 XP.
In March 2022, the manufacturer introduced the Antminer S19 XP HYD with liquid cooling. The device provides a hashrate 255 Th/S with an efficiency of 20.8 j/TH.
Recall that in February, the American Bitcoin mining chip was shown by the American Corporation Intel. The declared characteristics of the prototype of the miner based on Bonanza Mine were significantly inferior to the flagships of Bitmain and Microbt.
In March, Intel announced the launch of the second generation of the chip for mining. According to the statement, Blockscale will provide energy efficiency of about 26 j/TH.
