Fincen first assigned a fine for bitcoin mixer
The founder of the Helix and Ceo Coin Ninja cryptocurrency service Larry Din Harmon was fined $ 60 million at the request of the financial crime network (Fincen).
According to investigators, Harmon washed more than $ 300 million through the ABRAXAS, Agora, Hansa, Hydra and Wall Street Market Dark.
FINCEN prosecutors also claim that the suspect was a partner of the now nonexistent Alphabay marketplace, through which he allegedly washed $ 27 million in bitcoins. Harmon’s family denies Larry’s connection with Alphabay.
The Larry Dina Harmon case creates a precedent in US legislation, since the Ministry of Justice first called the cryptocurrency mixing crime. This classification threatens potential problems for any similar service.
Recall that Harmon was arrested in February on suspicion of laundering money and managing an unlicensed money Michael Saylor transfer service. He faces up to 30 years in prison.
As part of the consideration of the case of Harmon, the court recognized Bitcoin with money.
